As someone who was born in Snake year, facing Snake year used to be quite worrying for me. The reason for that is because the last time I went through Snake year —12 years ago— was quite turbulent and I was simply ‘lost’. At that time, I was not armed with the knowledge that I have now, most importantly no teacher/mentor to guide me through the storm. Now, 12 years later, hopefully the story will be different. Hopefully I am wiser, now.
The period of three months before the year changes, which is November-December-January, give us the opportunity to ‘peak’ into the future of what’s going to happen. It is not a premonition per se, which many have mistaken for, but more about of how the energy flow.

The gift which Snake Year brings.
Looking through many resources, it has become clear to me that Lavender may support getting a good sleep at night. My first try is with Lavender too. But after several days applying Lavender, I didn’t see significant results with it. My mind was still wondering around. Then, I looked through my sister’s oil collections that found that she has multiple bottles of Balance. For experiment sake, I applied it before sleep and it somewhat helped. Hmm… interesting.
I was wondering why Balance (a Doterra blend) was able to help me quite successfully instead of Lavender. I did a small research and the result was astounding. Before we apply any medication at all, first, we need to define the root cause.
As for myself, the root cause of not being able to rest well is the mind was overly active and not because I wasn’t able to relax. Which is the reason why, Balance works well.
Imagine yourself driving yourself to work every morning. Some days, when it should have been a busy day, the road as expected is busy and traffic is to be expected. Then, there are days when it’s weekend and the traffic is just as bad as weekdays. Using your past experiences as data, you can deduce and make a prediction based on it. Sometimes it is spot on, sometimes it missed.
The concept of Astrology works similarly.
Before the Snake year arrived, I have been facing with stress and worry. This lead me to have difficulty in getting a restful sleep at night. Though I was supposed to be asleep, I was just ‘spending time’ in bed and wished for morning to come sooner.
Now, contrary of what people belief, Snake year offers a quite special and specific theme, which is transformation.
By traveling and visiting different places, we are being guided to see things beyond of what we know. It could something that you’ve already known or used to, or something that is completely different.
For me, this year especially special because the first half of the year, gave me the homework of what can be done so that I am going towards the destination that I intend to go.
Entering the second half of the year, I started to see how it was related and applied the collection of information gathered during the first half of the year.
More than anything else, I wish to gain back my restful night and sleep. My first tool as support is essential oil.
This is the year when I decided to invest in my overall health and well-being. The choice goes to invest in essential oil. I have always fascinated by aroma and deeply grateful for starting from a good start.

The Recipe.
I blend Balance-Vetiver-Cedarwood for the Quite Night Blend. I used a total of six drops in a 10ml roller amber glass bottle. I applied it on my wrist, side of the neck and behind ears. Inhaling the aroma helps me calm down and clear the mind.
Since the beginning of August, I have solved my sleeping challenge and getting enough sleep every night. Zzz…
Besides this oil blend, I made some adjustment around the bedroom, such as pillow arrangement and room temperature. Little things could add up to support our nightly rest.
I have almost never had any challenge with getting a good quality of sleep, until now. Challenges that is presented during this Snake Year is not only pose as a reminder that life should be lived with mindfulness, but also, with every challenge that we pull through, we become stronger and better than before. Particularly in this case, more open and creative.
One year ago, I would never expect that my biggest lesson this year will be about how to get a good restful sleep every night.
